Today, I am thankful for celebrations. Tonight, my buddy and I will be putting on a birthday dinner for my sister in law with a Pinata and good food and yes a chocolate birthday cake. I am excited about her reaction when she sees what I have stuffed in the Pinata. Her favorite foods are steak and shrimp…hmm…:) Happy Birthday, Janet and many more.

Today, I am thankful that I can post. I apologize for not posting for the last 2 days. I have now taken on 2 other jobs from co workers who are now gone. My second job has been made full time. I don’t know how long I can keep up the pace; but the Lord helps me continue to laugh. I am enormously thankful it is Saturday. Woo hoo….:)

Today, I am thankful for wise counsel. I was given a job opportunity that I struggled with taking. I spoke with a very successful businessman who asked questions and helped me to see the folly of pursuing the opportunity. I had prayed the night before that the Lord would use someone to give me the answer I needed to hear….:)

Today, I am thankful for Chapter 13 of 1st Corinthians. It speaks about love, the kind of love that can only come from God. The kind of love that can change the world. May we, who belong to Him, strive to have and show that kind of love that God has for us.

Today, I am thankful for courage; courage to do the right thing even though the odds are stacked against you. The only one who can give you that kind of courage is God. I pray that all of us who belong to Him, be courageous sprinkling light and salt in a world infected with cruelty, injustice. and hypocrisy. Stand up for those who can’t stand up for themselves…:)

Yesterday, I was thankful for rebuilding. It was the anniversary of the tornado in this area 5 years ago. Today, I am thankful that God has patience with me and still speaks to me through others. I heard a sermon on 1st Peter yesterday and a gentleman at church repeated the same thing verbatim. Why is that significant, well, I was praying and asking God to increase my faith and help me with my unbelief. He did loud and clear. Thank you to Sam for delivering the message to me…:)

Today I am thankful for my little brother (who is not so little). Today is his 42nd birthday and I thank God that he is my brother. He is about to be a dad a later stage of the game and I am thrilled for him. He is funny, kind, spiritual and always thinks about other people first. I am thankful for his sweet wife, Janet, who I still have yet to meet face to face…:)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, dear brother.

Today, I am thankful when God uses something so random to answer a prayer. I’ve been praying so hard for someone I love to get a second chance at a good life. This morning I asked Him as a God of second chances to have mercy on this person. In Sunday school class we were on the topic of Jonah and we watched a Vegie Tales movie. One of the songs when Jonah (asparagus) is in the belly of the big fish; Second Chances….:) It may sound silly: but, I have real hope.

Today I am thankful when I am not whining about something. I received a call from a resident in my condo complex on my Saturday while I was in the middle of picking up groceries. If you are not aware, I happen to be president of the Board. It is an extremely thankless job for which I volunteer; but, that’s another story….:) Anyway, back to this resident. Complaining, whining, critical, selfish and negative; does that describe anyone you might know?
After she spent several minutes berating everyone involved with management and the Board over a leaky water faucet, I thanked God for one, giving me the patience and sympathy to deal with her, and two, holding up a mirror and letting me know what it looks and sounds like to be a whiner. Object lesson taken to heart. thank you, Lord.
